Oracle Dynamic Reports

Generate high-quality PDF, PostScript, and AFP reports from data in Oracle Database — in application code or as a Java stored procedure inside the database itself.

Oracle Database is where the data lives; the documents still have to leave it looking right. Bills, statements, purchase orders, packing lists, and shipping labels all start as query results, and turning those results into professionally typeset print output is a formatting problem, not a database problem.

XML out of Oracle, documents out of IRen

Oracle Database produces XML natively, which makes it a direct fit for the RenderX pipeline: extract the data as XML, apply an XSL stylesheet, and let IRen format the result as PDF, PostScript, or AFP. Our patented XML-to-PDF software is used across many industries to generate batch database reports — for display on the web, as documents in a workflow inside a business system, or as print streams for mailings. Report templates can combine text, barcodes, and charts stored as SVG objects.

Formatting inside the database

Because IRen is a Java engine, it can run inside Oracle Database as a Java stored procedure. We have used this integration in production to create PDF documents directly from data stored in the database and deliver them over the network — with no intermediate files written to disk. The same approach works for any application that already lives close to the data.

For deployments where report generation is a service in its own right, IRen InGrid runs a grid of IRen engines behind a REST API, so applications and database jobs alike can submit XML and receive formatted documents in response.

We also work with Oracle-focused integrators and ISVs who build reporting solutions on the RenderX backend for their own customers.
