Free Editions
IRen Indie
IRen Indie (formerly XEP Personal Edition) is free for personal, non-commercial use. It includes the full desktop functionality of the IRen engine, with PDF and PostScript output. Documents you generate can be distributed, posted to the web, or shared within working groups; output carries a small, non-obtrusive stamp at the bottom of each page. There is no qualification process — request a license and we email you a key and download instructions. A valid email address is required.
Whether you work on standards, contribute to open source, or want to learn XSL-FO hands-on, IRen Indie is the place to start.
Academic Edition
RenderX offers free desktop licenses to qualified educational and non-profit, non-government institutions. Academic licenses require approval by RenderX; administrators and instructors may request licenses for an entire class. Output includes an annotation on the first page of each PDF. Qualified institutions can also apply for special academic terms on server products — contact sales.
Trial Downloads
Trial editions of RenderX software are available so you can complete a full evaluation before you buy. Instant trials deliver a license key straight to your email; developer and server editions are arranged by our sales team.
Purchase
Production licenses for IRen, IRen InGrid, VDPMill, CloudFormatter, and VisualXSL are sold through the RenderX shop.
Configurations vary — engine counts, grid capacity, output modules such as AFP, XPS, and PPML, and OEM or redistribution terms. If your deployment does not fit a standard package, contact sales for a quote based on your configuration.
Product Updates
All software updates are delivered by web download; you need the license key issued with your purchase.
